Description:  
                                        Mechanism of Action: Carbenoxolone is a synthetic derivative of glycyrrhizinic acid (a constituent of liquorice). It acts by protecting the mucosal barrier from acid-pepsin attack and increasing mucosal mucin production. Pharmacokinetics: Absorption: Absobed in the GI tract, mainly from the stomach. Distribution: Highly bound to plasma proteins. Excretion: Mainly excreted in the faeces via the bile.  |
